Zhayau Musa(Musa Baizhanuly) (1835-1929) - composer, akyn, poet. In his childhood Musa sang and played dombra, kobyz, syrnai and violin as well - the exotic instrument of the steppe. The creative activity of Zhayau Musa developed in close connection with folk art traditions. Many of his songs are notable for their progressive political          position:
«Aksisa», «Khaulau», «Tolgau», «Suiunduk»; there are lyric songs in the composer’s creativity: «Sholpan», «Salem           kyzdar», «Gaukhar kyz»; there are songs, glorifying the nature of the native land: «Baiyan aul», «Ulytau», «Karshyga», «Kogershin». Zhayau Musa is also the author of the kiuis: «Kyz kiui», «Kiui Kobzali», «Kamshylau». He left us rich literary heritage as well. Except for the well-known lyric poem «Olzhabai batyr» he wrote a great number of verses. Many popular expressions of Musa still circulate among people.The image of Zhayau Musa is created in Z.Akishev’s novel by the same name.
