Kazangap Tlepbergenov (1854-1921) - kiuishi. He is one of the founders of the kiui cycles named «Akzhelen» among which sixty-two of his kiuis are notable for their artistic perfection and unusual rhythm and intonation. The series of kiuis «Zhyri» occupies a significant place in the composer’s work. The most famous kiuis from these series: «Nogaiski zhyr-kiui», «Kiui skorbi (Grief kiui)», «Zhyr-kiui Beketa (Beket’s zhyr-kiui)» etc. Kazangap glorified man’s dignity: «Balzhan», «Bolshoi Karatas (Large Karatas)», «Mali Karatas (Small Karatas)»; the nature and the animal kingdom: «Belyi sokol (White Falcon)», «Kokil», «Belyi kon (White Horse)»: the inner world of man: «Как zhal (What a Pity)», «Nepostoianstvo myra (Inconstancy of the World)», «Petlya (Loop)». The 1916 revolt was a particular theme in his work: «Okopi (Trenches)», «Ostalsya v narode (Left among the People)», «Aitys». Kazangap reflected in his kiuis the age, transforming the role of great achievements of the times. He became famous also as gifted instrumentalist.
