Tlendiev Nurgisa(1925-1998) - conductor, composer, dombra player, People’s Artist of the USSR and Kaz.SSR, honoured Art Worker of Kaz.SSR, State Prize winner of Kaz.SSR. Graduated from Chaikovski State Conservatory in Moscow, Conducting Department (the class of Professor N.P.Anosov). In 1981 he founded the «Otrar-Sazy» Republican Folklore          and Ethnographic Orchestra and directed           the orchestra till the end of his life. Tlendiev is the author of the opera «Altyn taular» (with K.Kuzhamiarov), «Dostyk zholymen» ballet (with L.Stepanov), the orchestra poems «Ata tolgau» and «Akku» and also about 40 songs and romances. Tlendiev composed the music to 100 performances, feature, documentary and cartoon films. The melody, emotion, lyricism and dynamism characteristic of Tlendiev’s compositions are inherited traditions of Kazakh folk music.
