Otrat Sazy - Kazakh State Folklore and Ethnographic Folk Orchestra. Created in 1980 as ensemble of the Kazakh Philharmonic Society. The founder and artistic manager and its chief conductor was People’s Artist of the USSR N.A.TIendiev. In 1982 the orchestra assumed the name «Otrar sazy» («Sounds of Otrar»). Musical compositions are performed on Kazakh national instruments, known from ancient times and restored, owing to the research of the collector and musical expert B. Sarybaev. The orchestra’s repertoire includes the folk kiuis «Kenes», «Sary Uzen», «Sal kuren», the compositions of people’s composers «Kosbasar», «Sarzhailau», «Sylkyldak» by Tattimbet, «Kiui of Erden», «Kambar batyr» by Ykhlas, the compositions of Kazakh composers -«Eske alu» by M.Tulebaev, «Ata tolgau», «Kosh keruen» by N.TIendiev, «Korkyt kiui», «Farabi sazy» by K. Kumisbekov among others.
