Serkebaev Ermek -   singer   (baritone).   People’s   Artist   of Kazakhstan and the USSR, Kazakhstan State Prize, professor at Kurmangazy Almaty State Conservatory. Born in 1926 in Petropavlovsk. Graduated    from    the Chaikovski Almaty Music College in violinand from Kurmangazy     Almaty State Conservatory in vocal. Since 1951 he has been a soloist of the Abai     Kazakh     State Academic  Opera  and Ballet    theatre.     The singer has created  a remarkable gallery of opera images, among them: the part of the great Abai («Abai» by A.Zhubanov and L.Khamidi), batyrs Er-Targyn and Alpamys from the operas by Brusilovsky and Rakhmadiev. Kazakh and Russian folk songs, chamber compositions are in his repertoire as well. He is also an unsurpassed performer of Kazakh modern vocal music.
