Khamzin Magauia - dombra player, kiui-composer, People’s Artist of Kaz.SSR. Born 1927 in Djezkazgan Region. Graduated from Alma-Ata Musical College and also learned the dombra from the singers-kiuishis Khamit Ashyrbek, Akkyz. In the repertoire of Khamzin, who is a skilful performer of shertpe-kiuis, the kiuis of Tattimbet, Ток, Dairabai, Akkyz and other          popular Kazakhstani composers take particular place. For the first time Khamzin performed          by dombra the classical works of Mozart, Brams, Rakhmaninov and other well-known composers. The dombra of the kiui-composer is peculiar, unusual, nearly triangular in form, reproduced by memory after his grandfather’s dombra. It is sonorous and has rich timbre. The creative work of M.Khamzin is very popular and the Kazakhstani people love it. The kiuis «Kosbasar», «Kosmonavty», «Zhailau», «Zharys», «Molodoi Kazakh» etc. are the most popular among his works.
