Karakulov Bulat - musical expert, folklore expert. Born in 1942 in Almaty. Graduated from Conductor and Choral Department of the Moscow Conservatory. From 1967 to 1969 lectured in choral conducting at Kurmangazy Almaty State Conservatory. Since 1970 works in Auezov Institute of Literature and Art of the Academy of Sciences of the RK. Karakulov’s research focuses on historical and theoretical analysis of musical folklore and folksong art fundamentals. His research is directed at studying and revealing the origins of Kazakh song and music language. He showed the historic laws of formation of local peculiarities for song melos in different areas in Kazakhstan. B.Karakulov’s musical and ethnographic collection «Asyl mura» is a valuable reference book for the musicologist.
